3 Chromosomes Are Present in a Fixed Region on the Equatorial Plate Within the Interphase of Cell Division

Abstract:
The stability and evolution of human genetics depends on chromosomes (and chromosome-chromosome interactions). We wish to understand the spatial location of chromosomes in dividing cells in order to understand the relationship between chromosome-chromosome interactions and to further investigate the role of chromosomes and their impact on cell biological behavior. In this study, we explored the relative spatial positional relationships of chromosomes [t (9;22) and t (15;17)] in B-ALL cells by using the three-dimensions DNA in situ fluorescent hybridization (3D-FISH) method. The results showed that chromosomes [t (9;22) and t (15;17)] showed relatively stable spatial relationships. The relative stability of the spatial location of chromosomes in dividing cells may be relevant to disease.Keywords: chromosome, human genetics, chromosome territory, 3D-FISH
Procedia PDF Downloads 512 A Ti₃C₂O₂ Supported Single Atom, Trifunctional Catalyst for Electrochemical Reactions

Abstract:
Water splitting and rechargeable air-based batteries are emerging as new renewable energy storage and conversion technologies. However, the discovery of suitable catalysts with high activity and low cost remains a great challenge. In this work, we report a single-atom trifunctional catalyst, namely Ti₃C₂O₂ supported single Pd atom (Pd1@Ti₃C₂O₂), for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). This catalyst is selected from 12 candidates and possesses low overpotentials of 0.22 V, 0.31 V and 0.34 V for the HER, OER and ORR, respectively, making it an excellent electrocatalyst for both overall water splitting and rechargeable air-based batteries. The superior OER and ORR performance originates from the optimal d band center of the supported Pd atom. Moreover, the excellent activity can be maintained even if the single Pd atoms aggregate into small clusters. This work offers new opportunities for advancing the renewable energy storage and conversion technologies and paves a new way for the development of multifunctional electrocatalysts.Keywords: DFT, SACs, OER, ORR, HER

Abstract:
This paper investigates the impact of population age structure on carbon emissions in China. Using panel data from 30 provinces in China spanning from 1997 to 2020, the study estimates the heterogeneous effects of the working-age population (aged 15-64) on carbon emissions. The IV-MuGS-OR model is proposed to address the endogeneity and accommodate latent group structures in cross-sectional effects and slope coefficients. On average, across the 30 provinces, a one percentage point change in the working-age population share can lead to a 3.22% change in carbon emissions. However, the overall average impact varies significantly across the three identified heterogeneous groups of provinces, which differ from traditional classifications. A shrinking working-age share tends to reduce carbon emissions in provinces with high average carbon emissions while it increases emissions in provinces with median-level emissions. No significant impact is observed in provinces with low levels of carbon emissions. These findings suggest that varying policy intensities are crucial, given the heterogeneous impact of the working-age population share on carbon emissions across different emission levels.Keywords: working share, carbon emissions, IV-MuGS-OR, heterogenous impacts, population aging, China
