Abstract:

Introduction: Children suffering from Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) are more prone to various infections. Results: There were 42 microbial species isolated in the collected materials. 2 patients were cultured negatively (3.2%). There were statistical correlations between the type of colonisation and patients’ sex and HbA1C value. Conclusions: It is extremely important to examine the urethral area at the time of diagnosis of T1D in order to detect inflammation and to undertake appropriate and effective intervention.
