The article is devoted to the problem of political
\r\ndiscourse and its reflection on mass cognition. This article is
\r\ndedicated to describe the myth as one of the main features of political
\r\ndiscourse. The dominance of an expressional and emotional
\r\ncomponent in the myth is shown. Precedent phenomenon plays an
\r\nimportant role in distinguishing the myth from the linguistic point of
\r\nview. Precedent phenomena show the linguistic cognition, which is
\r\ncharacterized by their fame and recognition. Four types of myths
\r\nsuch as master myths, a foundation myth, sustaining myth,
\r\neschatological myths are observed. The myths about the national idea
\r\nare characterized by national specificity. The main aim of the
\r\npolitical discourse with the help of myths is to influence on the mass
\r\nconsciousness in order to motivate the addressee to certain actions so
\r\nthat the target purpose is reached owing to unity of forces.<\/p>\r\n","references":"[1] G. G. Pocheptsov, Theory of Communication. Moscow: Refl-book,\r\nVakler, 2001, p. 656.\r\n[2] P.S.
