This paper presents the application of finite dynamic
\r\nprogramming, specifically the "Markov Chain" model, as part of the
\r\ndecision making process of a company in the cosmetics sector located
\r\nin the vicinity of Bogota DC. The objective of this process was to
\r\ndecide whether the company should completely reconstruct its
\r\nwastewater treatment plant or instead optimize the plant through the
\r\naddition of equipment. The goal of both of these options was to make
\r\nthe required improvements in order to comply with parameters
\r\nestablished by national legislation regarding the treatment of waste
\r\nbefore it is released into the environment. This technique will allow
\r\nthe company to select the best option and implement a solution for
\r\nthe processing of waste to minimize environmental damage and the
