Within this flexible and reconfigurable assembly\r\nsystem, each worker travels down the line carrying out each\r\nassembly task at each station; and each worker accomplishes the\r\nassembly of a unit from start to finish and then travels back to the\r\nfirst station to start the assembly of a new product. This strategy of\r\nsystem design attempts to combine the flexibility of the U-shaped\r\nmoving worker assembly cell with the efficiency of the conventional\r\nfixed worker assembly line. The paper aims to evaluate the effect of\r\nidle time that may offset the labor efficiency of each walking worker\r\nproviding an insight into the mechanism of such a flexible and\r\nreconfigurable assembly system.","references":"[1] W.
