Research on the Landscape of Xi'an Ancient City Based on the Poetry Text of Tang Dynasty

Authors: Zou Yihui

Abstract:

The integration of the traditional landscape of the ancient city and the poet's emotions and symbolization into ancient poetry is the unique cultural gene and spiritual core of the historical city, and re-understanding the historical landscape pattern from the poetry is conducive to continuing the historical city context and improving the current situation of the gradual decline of the poetry of the modern historical urban landscape. Given the abundant urban landscape information embedded in poetic texts, this study employs semantic analysis and text mining techniques to investigate Tang Dynasty Chang’an City through term extraction, frequency analysis, and cluster analysis of classical poetry. A methodological framework is established for analyzing urban landscape morphology through poetic textual analysis. By examining nearly 160 landscape-related poems about Tang Chang’an, this research conducts a geographically contextualized investigation of its poetic landscape characteristics, aiming to integrate them with modern urban spatial development to perpetuate the cultural continuity of urban spaces.
