Energy consumption data, in particular those involving
\r\npublic buildings, are impacted by many factors: the building structure,
\r\nclimate\/environmental parameters, construction, system operating
\r\ncondition, and user behavior patterns. Traditional methods for data
\r\nanalysis are insufficient. This paper delves into the data mining
\r\ntechnology to determine its application in the analysis of building
\r\nenergy consumption data including energy consumption prediction,
\r\nfault diagnosis, and optimal operation. Recent literature are reviewed
\r\nand summarized, the problems faced by data mining technology in the
\r\narea of energy consumption data analysis are enumerated, and research
