Africa enjoys some of the best solar radiation levels in
\r\nthe world averaging between 4-6 kWh\/m2\/day for most of the year
\r\nand the global economic and political conditions that tend to make
\r\nAfrican countries more dependent on their own energy resources
\r\nhave caused growing interest in renewable energy based
\r\ntechnologies. However to-date, implementation of modern Energy
\r\nTechnologies in Africa is still very low especially the use of solar
\r\nconversion technologies. This paper presents literature review and
\r\nanalysis relating to the techno-economic feasibility of solar
\r\nphotovoltaic power generation in Africa. The literature is basically
\r\nclassified into the following four main categories. Techno-economic
\r\nfeasibility of solar photovoltaic power generation, design methods,
\r\nperformance evaluations of various systems and policy of potential
\r\nfuture of technological development of photovoltaic (PV) in Africa
\r\nby exploring the impact of alternative policy instruments and
\r\ntechnology cost reductions on the financial viability of investing solar
\r\nphotovoltaic in Africa.<\/p>\r\n","references":"[1] T. E. Drennen, J. D. Erickson and D.
