Part and parcel of building green homes (GHs) with
\r\nfavorable thermal comfort (TC) is to design and build with reduced
\r\ncarbon footprint (CF) from embodied energy in the building envelope
\r\nand reduced operational CF overall. Together, the environmental
\r\nimpact of GHs can be reduced significantly. Nevertheless, there is
\r\nstill a need to identify the base CF value for Malaysian GHs and this
\r\ncan be done by assessing existing ones which can then be compared
\r\nto conventional and vernacular houses which are built differently
\r\nwith different building materials. This paper underlines the research
\r\ndesign and introduces the case studies. For now, the operational CF
\r\nof the case studies is beyond the scope of this study. Findings from
\r\nthis research could identify the best building material and
\r\nconstruction technique combination to build GHs depending on the
\r\navailable skills, financial constraints and the condition of the
\r\nimmediate environment.<\/p>\r\n","references":"[1] B. Vale and R. Vale, Green Architecture: Design for a Sustainable\r\nFuture. London: Thames and Hudson, 1991.\r\n[2] D. W.
