Although there had been a many studies that shows
\r\nthe impact of air pollution on physical health, comparatively less was
\r\nknown of human behavioral responses and annoyance impacts.
\r\nAnnoyance caused by air pollution is a public health problem because
\r\nit can be an ambient stressor causing stress and disease and can affect
\r\nquality of life. The objective of this work is to evaluate the
\r\nannoyance caused by air pollution in two different industrialized
\r\nurban areas, Dunkirk (France) and Vitoria (Brazil). The populations
\r\nof these cities often report feeling annoyed by dust. Surveys were
\r\nconducted, and the collected data were analyzed using statistical
\r\nanalyses. The results show that sociodemographic variables,
\r\nimportance of air quality, perceived industrial risk, perceived air
\r\npollution and occurrence of health problems play important roles in
\r\nthe perceived annoyance. These results show the existence of a
\r\ncommon problem in geographically distant areas and allow
