The aim of this paper is to understand emerging
\r\nlearning conditions, when a visual analytics is implemented and used
\r\nin K 12 (education). To date, little attention has been paid to the role
\r\nvisual analytics (digital media and technology that highlight visual
\r\ndata communication in order to support analytical tasks) can play in
\r\neducation, and to the extent to which these tools can process
\r\nactionable data for young students. This study was conducted in three
\r\npublic K 12 schools, in four social science classes with students aged
\r\n10 to 13 years, over a period of two to four weeks at each school.
\r\nEmpirical data were generated using video observations and analyzed
\r\nwith help of metaphors within Actor-network theory (ANT). The
\r\nlearning conditions are found to be distinguished by broad
\r\ncomplexity, characterized by four dimensions. These emerge from
\r\nthe actors’ deeply intertwined relations in the activities. The paper
\r\nargues in relation to the found dimensions that novel approaches to
\r\nteaching and learning could benefit students’ knowledge building as
\r\nthey work with visual analytics, analyzing visualized data.<\/p>\r\n","references":"[1] Hilbert, M.; L\u00f3pez, P.
