Living today in turbulent business environment forces
\r\ncompanies to distinguish from each other, securing sustainable
\r\ncompetitive growth and competitive advantage. The best possible
\r\nsolution is to invest (effort and financial resources) within
\r\ncompanies’ different practices of human resource management
\r\n(HRM), more specifically in employees’ knowledge, skills and
\r\nabilities. Applying this approach companies will create enviable level
\r\nof human capital securing its economic growth. Employees become
\r\nhuman capital for their employers at the moment when they
\r\ncontribute with their own knowledge and abilities in creating material
\r\nand non-material value of the company. The main aim of this
\r\nresearch is to explore the relations between human capital
\r\ninvestments and business excellence of Croatian companies.
\r\nFurthermore, the differences in the level of human capital
\r\ninvestments with regard to several companies’ characteristics (e.g.
\r\nsize of the company, ownership and type of the industry) are
\r\ninvestigated.<\/p>\r\n","references":"[1] I.
